NGHI SON 2 POWER LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY

Nghi Son 2 Power Limited Liability Company (NS2PC) is a significant energy provider in Vietnam, operating the Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant located in the Nghi Son Economic Zone, Thanh Hoa Province. This facility, with a net capacity of 1,200 MW, commenced commercial operations in July 2022 and generates approximately 7.8 billion kWh annually, supplying electricity to over six million households. 

NS2PC is a joint venture owned by Marubeni Corporation (Japan), Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (Japan). The company was established under Vietnamese enterprise law to develop and operate the Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant. 

The leadership team of NS2PC includes Michael W. Savidge, who serves as the Executive Vice President and Plant General Manager. Under his guidance, the company has focused on efficient plant operations and fostering cultural exchange. For instance, Mr. Savidge has introduced aspects of ancient Vietnamese civilization, such as the Dong Son bronze drums, to both foreign and local experts, enriching the cultural understanding within the organization. 

The Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant utilizes advanced supercritical coal-fired technology, enhancing efficiency and reducing emissions compared to traditional coal-fired plants. Construction began in July 2018, and the plant achieved full commercial operation by July 2022. The project represents a substantial investment of approximately $2.79 billion and operates under a 25-year build-operate-transfer (BOT) agreement, after which ownership will transfer to the state-owned Vietnam Electricity (EVN). 

In addition to its energy production, NS2PC is committed to community development and environmental sustainability. The company has implemented social support programs in the local area, including clean water supply initiatives, vocational training, healthcare support, and disease prevention efforts. These initiatives aim to contribute positively to the socio-economic development of the Thanh Hoa province and improve the quality of life for its residents.
