Smart Mobile Joint Stock Company (SMART MOBILE JSC), known locally as Công Ty Cổ Phần Di Động Thông Minh, is a major player in Vietnam’s wholesale distribution of smartphones and telecommunications equipment. Headquartered in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, and operating branches in Hanoi and Da Nang, the company has built a nationwide presence over its 11-year history.

Incorporated in May 2014, Smart Mobile operates as a privately held joint stock company with a registered charter capital of approximately USD 5.96 million. Its shareholder base includes Win Pine Limited (Hong Kong, 45%), Ms. Vu T. C. V.(Vietnam, 35%), and Mr. Nguyen V. V. (Vietnam, 20%). The company is currently led by Director Vu T. C. V., with financial management overseen by Chief Accountant Nguyen D. N. V.. As of 2023, it employs around 1,000 people across its locations.

Despite its well-established operations, Smart Mobile experienced a difficult financial year in 2023. The company’s total assets fell sharply by 46.81%, from USD 55.95 million in 2022 to USD 29.76 million. Sales revenue also dropped significantly, decreasing by 34.76% to USD 154.87 million. Profits were particularly hard hit, falling nearly 38% to just under USD 1 million. The decline follows a previous drop of over 59% in 2022, indicating two consecutive years of reduced earnings.

While equity remains at a healthy level—USD 18.24 million—and working capital is strong at nearly USD 15 million, the continued erosion of profitability raises concerns about operational efficiency or market shifts. This may reflect broader challenges in the electronics retail sector, including intense competition, shrinking margins, or shifting consumer behavior.

Smart Mobile's core business involves selling smartphones and accessories, but its registered operations are broad, including computer sales, software retail, repair services, and even market research. Its diversified service offering may help cushion market volatility, though it also adds complexity to operations.

With a strong brand, strategic locations, and international shareholder support, Smart Mobile remains a key name in Vietnam’s electronics distribution landscape. However, to sustain its position, the company will need to address profitability headwinds and explore opportunities for innovation and customer engagement.
