In November 2024, Vietnam’s seafood exports rebounded strongly, surpassing $1 billion after over two years. According to the Vietnam General Department of Customs, the export value for November 2024 reached $917.7 million, marking a 16.7% year-on-year increase, albeit a 10.2% decline compared to October 2024. For the first 11 months of 2024, cumulative seafood exports amounted to $9.17 billion, reflecting an 11.45% increase over the same period in 2023. This growth was driven by increased global demand, rising prices of key products like pangasius and shrimp, and expanded production capacity.
Vietnam’s total seafood production in November 2024 reached an estimated 864.8 thousand tons, up 3.4% year-on-year. The production included 598.6 thousand tons of fish, 144.0 thousand tons of shrimp, and 122.2 thousand tons of other aquatic products. Significant contributors included pangasius and white-leg shrimp, whose production increased by 4.7% and 8.4%, respectively.
